How it works

From the request to the number ringing on AzuPhone

Number portability is a subscriber right in Brazil: you change provider and keep the number. Azuton files the request with the carrier that currently holds the line — you do not have to negotiate anything with them.

01 · Request

You fill in the form

Holder and line details must match the current carrier's bill exactly. A mismatch in the registration data is the most common reason for rejection.

02 · Verification

Our team validates

We check ownership, address and numbering area before filing. If anything does not match, we talk to you before submitting.

03 · Filing

We file it with the carrier

The request goes to the donor carrier through the official porting channels. You follow progress by the email you provided.

04 · Activation

The number rings on your extension

In the agreed window, the number starts ringing on AzuPhone. The cloud extensions are already configured before the switch, so there is no gap in service.

FAQ

Questions about number porting

Will I lose my number when I move to a cloud PBX?

No. Number portability exists precisely for this: you change provider and take the number with you. Your customers keep calling the same number, which now rings on AzuPhone extensions.

Are virtual PBX and cloud PBX the same thing?

Yes, they are two names for the same thing. Virtual PBX, cloud PBX and IP PBX all describe a phone system that runs over the internet, in a data centre, instead of a physical box inside the company. AzuPhone is Azuton's virtual PBX — and it is where the ported number starts ringing.

Will my service go down during the porting?

It does not have to. The cloud extensions are configured and tested before the switch, so the structure is ready when the number changes carrier. The switching window is agreed with you.

Can I port more than one number?

Yes. If your company has several numbers, or number blocks from different branches, tell us when you get in touch — the request is built for the whole set, not one at a time.

Why might my porting request be rejected?

The most common reason is a registration mismatch: the name, tax ID or address given here does not match what the current carrier has on file. That is why we check everything before filing. Outstanding balances with the donor carrier can also block the process.

Do I need to notify my current carrier first?

No. The porting request is filed by the carrier receiving the number — in this case Azuton. You do not have to negotiate your exit or ask the current carrier for release.
